Joshua

Last week i treated a boy called Joshua who's friends pushed him into a ditch sewage gutter. He's 5. He sustained 2 fractures to his tibia and had it repaired with surgery. When I went to see him he was really friendly and really cute but very scared of moving his leg. He cried and cried and screamed and I had to distract him by talking about football and all sorts - fun fun with a language barrier too. I managed to calm him down and explain the importance of moving his knee in kidie language - my normal language.hehe.
Today i went back to see him and he had full range of movement and walked up and down the ward.
Physio with kids is all about being fun, friendly and beign able to gain their trust.
I bought him some biscuits today - it was going to be persuasion to do some physio but seeing as he was doing so well I left him with them as I wrote up his notes by the side of his bed.
He opened the packet with his teeth and proceeded to walk around the whole of the childrens ward offering staff and kids one. There was just one left for him to have.
It was one of the highlights of my day.
